Born
in Manchester, England, Cheryll Hillier, Licensed Massage Therapist and
Certified Bowen Technique Instructor/Practitioner lives near Orlando,
Florida with her husband
David and their two cats Ziggy and Ping.
In l992 after being involved in the British film and
TV production industry for 20 years,
Cheryll decided to study massage at the London Regent’s Park College of
Homeopathy,
and in l993 was awarded the I.T.E.C. (International Therapy Examining
Council) diploma in Therapeutic Massage.
Failure by several other traditional and alternative
therapies to help her own injuries led her in l994 to try the Bowen Technique
therapy which originated in Australia.
After the technique successfully treated her, and subsequently
David’s pain, they both decided to study Bowen therapy with Julian Baker
in the UK (now head of the European College of Bowen Studies, and former
UK Coordinator of the Bowtech Academy of Australia)

Now
also Nationally and Florida State Certified in Massage therapy in the
US, Cheryll has built a successful Bowen Technique practice in the
Winter
Park, Orlando area . Since
seeing the results of this extraordinary modality, she has devoted herself
to the singular practice of pure Bowen therapy as originally developed
and taught by the late
Tom
Bowen of Australia.
Cheryll
was originally a member of the Bowtech Academy of Australia, whose director
Ossie Rentsch was one of a small group
of people personally selected to work with Tom Bowen, which he later documented
and taught to Milton Albrecht, Julian Baker
and Dr JoAnne Whitaker.
Working
closely with JoAnne Whitaker, M.D. (Bowen Research and Training Institute),
Cheryll has been teaching the Bowen Therapy for the past eight years.
Since
l997, following several Advanced Bowen seminars taught by Milton Albrecht
CMT, of Auburn, CA., who founded Bowen Therapy International (BTI) and
was the first Bowen practitioner to be certified in the US,
Milton invited Cheryll to become a Certified Instructor in the Technique.
Cheryll
has been teaching the Bowen Technique in Central Florida, using Milton
Albrecht's interpretation of Tom Bowen's work, in association with BTI
since 2005.
The
technique is a wonderful hands-on modality geared towards healing and
medical professionals, but there are no pre-requisites and eligibility
for non-professionals is determined on an individual basis.
Classes commonly comprise medical and non-medical professionals,
technicians, students and retired people.
Bowen
Therapy can be easily learned and
classes
are designed around the use of copyrighted materials.
